Obituary for David Edward Johnson
David Edward Johnson, age 62, of Ava, Ohio, died Friday, August 16, 2013, at his home. He was born December 9, 1950, in Akron, son of Ruth Rowlands Johnson of Caldwell and the late Clarence “Sam” Johnson. He was a 1968 graduate of Caldwell High School, and he worked on oil wells and was employed as a truck driver, electrician, and repairing small engines. He formerly attended the Ava United Methodist Church, and he was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Belle Valley Post #641, and he was a life member of the North American Hunting Club. He enjoyed reading, fishing, camping, and he was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He loved spending time with his family. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by one sister, Lisa Hutchins. Surviving are his companion of 25 years, Judy K. Childress of Ava; his children, Kelli A. (Eric) Clark of Caldwell, Shannon L. (Warren) Yoders of Cambridge, Courtney J. (Adam) Slevin of Caldwell, Tracy D. Dickey of Ava, and Ronnie A. “Bub” (Sheena) Childress of Crooksville; two sisters, Judy (Greg) Ackerman of Beallsville and Karen Danford of Caldwell; one brother, Randall (Debbie) Johnson of Cambridge; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call Sunday, August 18, 2013, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Monday, August 19th at 11AM with Pastor Jimmy Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ripples Cancer Support Group, P.O.
