Obituary for David Charles Mitchell
David Charles Mitchell, age 70, of Newcomerstown, Ohio, died Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at Genesis Good Samaritan Medical Center in Zanesville. He was born April 4, 1942, in Caldwell, son of the late Elsworth Lee and Verna Mae Clark Mitchell. David was formerly employed as a meat cutter for Ball’s Market in Caldwell, and he owned and operated Mitchell’s Custom Meat Processing in Caldwell for a number of years. He later was employed at R&F Coal Company and he retired from Oxford Mining. He was a member of the Coshocton Moose. David enjoyed fishing, truck and tractor pulls, and working on cars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Detmer Charles Mitchell, who died February 2, 2008;and two brothers, Detmer and Huey Mitchell. Surviving are his wife Sandra L. Thatcher Mitchell, whom he married in 1996; two sons, Joe A. (Tammy) Mitchell of Greenwich and Scott Lee (Karen) Mitchell of Cambridge; one daughter Davette Mitchell True of Caldwell; two step-daughters, Amber N. Lee of New Concord and Lisa M. Porter of Newcomerstown; two sisters, Sandra Witten of Bolivar and Linda Westlake of Canton; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call Saturday, September 29, 2012, from 10AM-1PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow at 1PM. Inurnment will be in Olive Cemetery at a later date.
