Obituary for David B. Stellfox, Jr.
David B. Stellfox, Jr., age 89, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta. He was born June 17, 1924, in Aristis, Pennsylvania, son of the late David B. and Catherine I. Weller Stellfox. He was a 1942 graduate of Powhatan Point High School, and he was a World War II United States Army veteran, having served as staff sergeant with the military police, and posted to guard the White House. He was employed by Stellfox Restaurant in Caldwell and Yonker Coal Company following the war. He was employed by the former Cleveland Graphite Bronze in 1952, and he retired from there as a production control manager in 1986. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Caldwell, serving in many capacities, and he was a member of its choir and men’s quartet, for which he sang bass. Mr. Stellfox played and managed a softball team at First Baptist Church as well as several amateur levels of baseball during his life. He enjoyed fishing, doing yard work, and feeding birds. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sarah L. Hazard Stellfox, whom he married December 16, 1945, and who died April 26, 2010. Surviving are his children, David B. (Linda) Stellfox, III, of Butler, Pennsylvania, Daniel R. (Sue) Stellfox of Aurora, Colorado, Kathryn A. (Norman) Nelson of Akron, and Deborah Sue Stellfox of Caldwell; one sister, Ellen Hatfield of Owensboro, Kentucky; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Friends may call Friday, October 25, 2013, from 11AM to 1PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow at 1PM with Pastor Mike Willmer officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery in Caldwell.
