Obituary for Danny Ray Basford
Danny Ray Basford, age 58, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Thursday, February 19, 2015, at SE Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge. He was born March 3, 1956, in Wadsworth, son of Fred T. and Dolores Oliver Basford of Caldwell. He was a 1974 graduate of Shenandoah High School, and he was formerly employed by Central Ohio Coal Company as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #495 in Cambridge. Mr. Basford, along with several others, established Shenandoah Biddy League Football, and he served as assistant football coach at Shenandoah High School for several years. He enjoyed drag racing outlaw street cars with his son, Brent, and he loved watching his grandsons play football.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Vicki L. Moore Basford, whom he married June 20, 1975; two sons, Brad J. (Anita) Basford of Hartsville, Tennessee, and Brent A. (Mallory) Basford of Cumberland; two sisters, Denise A. (Eddie) Martin of Lebanon, Tennessee, and Dawna S. (Shane) Rucker of Caldwell; 2 grandsons, D. J. and Mason Basford of Hartsville, Tennessee; his mother-in-law, Irene Moore of Caldwell; his good friend, Jimmy Rayner of Caldwell; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; his beloved pets, his pit bull, Bubba, black lab, Harley, and bassett mix, Earl; his granddog, Spook; and many friends.
Friends may call Sunday, February 22, 2015, from 2-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Monday, February 23rd at 11AM with Pastor Keith Stotts officiating. Burial will follow at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery.
