Obituary for Dale J. Buckey
Dale J. Buckey, age 63, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at his home. He was born August 12, 1957, in Cambridge, son of the late William J. “Toppy” and Rea Tarcella Leasure Buckey. He was a 1975 graduate of Shenandoah High School and the Mid-East Career Center. Dale was employed by Buckey Disposal in Belle Valley since 1975. He formerly attended the Ava United Methodist Church and was a former Republican Central Committeeman for Noble Township. He was also a former board member of PAWS, Inc., Noble County Humane Society, and he served as vice-president of the Halley’s Ridge Cemetery Association. Dale was the classic working man, whether at work or just piddling outside. His love of animals was only overshadowed by his love of family and friends. His genuine care and concern for people brought him joy and fulfillment.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his twin sister, Gail Wheeler; his father-in-law, Harry Wharton; brothers-in-law, Steve Wharton and Bob Wharton; and several aunts and uncles.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy A. Archer Buckey; his siblings, Vicki J. (Mike) Somers of Zanesville and Mike R. (Linda) Buckey of Caldwell; mother-in-law, Jean Wharton; sisters-in-law, Nancy Wharton and Mary Wharton; brother-in-law, Bill Wharton; nieces and nephews, Jamie (Jamie) Hendershot, Jeremy (Amy) Wheeler, Hallie (J.T.) Marshall, Jocelyn (Donny) Paslowski, Lance (Kristen) Buckey, Matt (Allison) Hannahs, Kasey Somers, and Travis (Lauren) Somers, Dan (Sarah) Wharton, Nate (Stephanie) Wharton, and Natasha (Paul) Dovenbarger; great-nieces and nephews, Colton and Olivia Hendershot, Peyton and Riley Wheeler, M.J. and Axel Buckey, Lane, Garrett, and Katie Hannahs, Adeline Somers, Veda, Poppy, Gavin, and Heath Paslowski; Scarlett and Grant Marshall, Nakayla Dovenbarger, and Kaylee Wharton.
Friends may call Saturday, May 29, 2021, from 1-7PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Sunday, May 30th at 2PM with Jason Pierce and Ken Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Halley’s Ridge Cemetery Assn., P.O.
