Dail H. Harper, age 87, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Friday, April 19, 2024, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born September 10, 1936, in Noble County, son of the late Wilmer W. and Elizabeth A. “Lizzie” McDonald Harper. Dail was a 1954 graduate of Dexter City High School and he retired as a dozer operator from B&N Coal Company in Dexter City following 30 years of service. He operated his own dozer from the time he was eighteen-years-old, and he enjoyed racing go-carts when he was a young man. He loved doing mechanic work. Dail loved to tell stories, sing ditties and tunes, and he played the piano as a young man.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Marie Lonsinger Harper, whom he married June 5, 1967, and who died October 20, 2006; two grandsons, Michael Harper and Richard Anderson; and one brother, Joseph Harper.
Surviving are his children, Shirley A. Gandee (Kevin Mayle) of Cutler, Edward E. Harper of Cambridge, Gary L. Harper and Kaye J. Harper, both of Dexter City, Glen A. (Dorothy) Harper, Larry D. (Deb) Harper, Dail S. (Amy) Harper, and Michael R. (Delicia) Harper, all of Caldwell, and Misty D. (Floyd) McKown of Dexter City; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one sister, Gail Harper of Dexter City; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 2-6PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Monday, April 22nd at 11AM with Ken Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Dudley Cemetery.
