Obituary for Colleen 'Cokie' Watson Dace
Colleen “Cokie” Watson Dace, age 84, of Veedersburg, Indiana, formerly of Caldwell, Ohio, died Saturday, August 18, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Central Medical Center in Layfayette, Indiana. She was born October 1, 1927, in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Carey Elsworth and Esther Isabel Embrey Watson. She was a 1945 graduate of and received her high school diploma from Cincinnati Bible Seminary, where she also attended college classes. For 66 years, alongside her husband, Loran, she served faithfully as a pastor’s wife for many churches. She also served in many ways at Kentucky Christian University in Grayson, Kentucky, including serving as a men’s dorm mother, a cheerleading advisor for basketball games at which her husband coached, and as an advisor for a ministers’ wives group. She was a member of the Flushing Christian Church in Flushing, Ohio. She was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crafting with plastic canvas, and cooking. She loved the Lord, her husband Loran, her family, and her many friends. She is survived by her husband, Loran Arthur “Coach” Dace, whom she married February 1, 1947; one daughter, M. Jane (Larry) Sims of Veedersburg, Indiana; one sister, Betty (Earl Eugene) Richardson of Pickerington; two brothers, Donald (Chris) Watson of Dayton and Ross (Beverly) Watson of Pataskala; three grandchildren, Patti (Eric) Peters of Kissimmee, Florida, David (Tara) Sims of Veedersburg, Indiana, and Becky (David) Eveland of Knoxville, Tennessee; and 6 great-grandchildren. Friends may call Wednesday, August 22, 2012, from 11AM-1PM at the Kentucky Christian University Chapel in Grayson, Kentucky, where the funeral service will follow at 1PM with Pastor Tom Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Grayson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dace Memorial Scholarship Fund at Kentucky Christian University, 100 Academic Parkway, Grayson, Kentucky, 41143.
