Charles Edward Gross, age 68, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at his home. He was born February 15, 1942, in Covington, Virginia, son of the late Joel and Louise Thompson Gross. He was a graduate of Elyria High School in Elyria, and he was also a graduate of the Ohio Highway Patrol Academy in Columbus and the FBI Academy in Virginia. He retired in 1993 as a staff lieutenant for the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Mr. Gross was also a United States Air Force veteran, having served for four years. He was Christian by faith, and he enjoyed playing his guitar and the fellowship with area hunters, and he loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Minnie E. Sparks Gross, whom he married December 1, 1962; three children, Brenda M. (Malcolm) Badertscher of Findlay, David C. (Tami) Gross of Springfield, and Holly G. (Andrew) Miller of Pennfield; one sister, Margaret (Jack) Phillips of North Olmstead; one brother, Joel W. (Nancy) Gross of Creston; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday, December 3, 2010, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell. The funeral service will be observed Saturday, December 4th at 11AM at the Noble County Community Center with Leslie White and Irving Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery.
