Obituary for Charles Arthur Nichols
Charles Arthur Nichols, age 87, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Saturday evening, October 28, 2006, at his residence. He was born June 28, 1919, in Sharon Township, Noble County, Ohio, son of the late Ernest I. and Phoebe Jane Cain Nichols. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, having served in Holland and Germany. Mr. Nichols had owned and operated a family farm for many years and was a retired employee of the former Gould Corporation plant in Caldwell. He was a member of the Olive Green Community Church and the Noble County Farm Bureau. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Elizabeth Boney Nichols, whom he married July 12, 1943, and who died November 30, 2003; one daughter, Dotty Nichols, who died April 13, 1960; five brothers, Frank, Ralph, Irvin, Clarence and Roy Nichols; and one sister, Mabel St. Clair. Surviving are six daughters, Linda Nichols of Caldwell, Lucy (Wade) Fleming of Caldwell, Joy (Marvin) Feldner of Caldwell, Jane (Tim) Perez of Belle Valley, Christine (Steve) Gray of Zanesville and Char (Keith) Swingle of Washington Court House; one brother, Stanley E. (Mina) Nichols of Caldwell; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Tuesday, October 31, 2006, from 2-4 and 7-9PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell. Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 1 at 11AM at Sharon Cemetery with the Pastor Gary Fitzgerald officiating. Noble County Veterans Services Organization will present military honors. The family requests memorial contributions to RIPPLES Cancer Support Group in memory of Nellie E. Nichols.
