Obituary for Carl A. Fields, Jr.
Carl A. Fields, Jr., age 72, of Caldwell, Ohio, formerly of Akron, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. He was born October 27, 1938, in Akron, son of the late Carl Anthony and Veronica Agnes Skacevic Fields, Sr. He was a member of the first graduating class of Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, and he attended the University of Akron. Mr. Fields was a United States Army veteran, having served in Italy. He was employed in the sales department of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, and he was retired as chief bailiff for the Akron Municipal Court. He was a member of AA for 33 years, and he was an active member of the Summit County Republican Party for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and attending flea markets and sales.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Dolores Bell; and one brother, Auggie Fields.
Surviving are his wife, Elaine D. Fields, whom he married in 1987; one daughter, Viki (Fred) Turley of Nampa, Idaho; two sons, Mark (Julie) Fields of Akron and Greg (Cherie) Fields of Arroyo, California; one step-daughter, Karen Maxfield of Alma, Michigan; one step-son, Michael (Carrie) Maxfield of Howard City, Michigan; 7 grandchildren; and his many wonderful friends.
A memorial service will be observed Saturday, March 12, 2011, at 2PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home. Rolland Hawley and Stacey Hrinko are officiating. A VFW service will follow conducted by the Noble County Veterans Service Organizations.
