Beverly K. Heddleson, age 78, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Monday, September 23, 2024, at Altercare Summit Acres. She was born March 17, 1946, in Bellaire, daughter of the late Floyd Dale and Elizabeth Pitzer Bethel. Bev was a 1964 graduate of St. Clairsville High School and a graduate of Ohio University – Zanesville, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She retired in 2006 from Caldwell Exempted Village Schools, where she taught the third and fourth grades and then went on to serve as a substitute teacher in Caldwell for 15 years, for a total of 55 years of devoted service to Caldwell Schools. Bev was a member of the Ohio Education Association and the Caldwell Teachers Association, for which she served as treasurer for many years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Caldwell, where she served as a deacon and choir director. She was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, beginning with the Order of the Rainbow Girls. Bev was a poll worker for many years for the Noble County Board of Elections and a member of the Sunshine Singers. She enjoyed crafting of all kinds, cooking, and going to the beach with her beloved family for summer vacation.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Pat Segall.
Surviving are her husband, James E. Heddleson, whom she married December 22, 1968; three sons, Dr. James D. “JD” Heddleson (fiancé, Amanda Hatcher) of Ontario, Ohio, Jerry A. (Kimberly) Heddleson of Coshocton, and Jeffrey D. (Samantha) Heddleson of Caldwell; three grandchildren, Isabella, Audrey, and Vivian Heddleson; one brother, Arthur C. (Mary) Bethel of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday, October 4, 2024, from 2-4 and 6-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where an Eastern Star service will follow visitation at 8PM. The funeral service will be observed Saturday, October 5th at 11AM with Ken Perkins officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Caldwell Exempted Village Schools, 516 Fairground Street, Caldwell, Ohio, 43724.
