Bertha D. Johanning, age 88, of Harriettsville, Ohio, died Sunday, November 2, 2008, at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, Ohio. She was born July 8, 1920, at Ogles Ridge, Noble County, Ohio, daughter of the late Harry B. and Lydia Heddleson Pryor. She was a 1938 graduate of the former Elk Rural High School, and she was a member of the Lower Salem United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Johanning; one son, Harry Luther Johanning; one sister, Lenora Pryor Estadt; and one brother, Blake B. Pryor. Surviving are one daughter, Fanchion Ann (Donnie) Hale of Woodsfield; one son, Charles Aundree (Linda) Johanning of Lower Salem; her grandchildren, Tina (Rich) Sarver, Tammy Johanning, Traci Johanning, Angie Dorscheimer, and Sondra Tufts; eight great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three sisters, Wanda (Kelsey) Porter of Lower Salem, Mary Cotopolis of Canton, and Blanche (Bill) Schafer of Tuscon, Arizona. At Mrs. Johanning's request, there will be no visitation. A graveside prayer service will be observed Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at 1PM at Lower Salem Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lower Salem United Methodist Church, 101-2nd Street, Lower Salem, Ohio, 45745.
