Obituary for Avon Lee "Junior" Woodard
Avon Lee “Junior” Woodard, age 67, of Pleasant City, Ohio, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, in Frazeysburg. He was born October 7, 1948, son of the late Avon “Woody” and Inez Woodburn Woodard. He was a 1966 graduate of Shenandoah High School, and he owned and operated Woodard Construction. He retired as a carpenter’s foreman from Beaver Excavating, and he was a union carpenter for Local #69, Carpenters Union, and he was a member of Local #530, Laborers Union. He attended Faith Baptist Church in Belle Valley. Junior loved farming and working, and he loved hunting. He also enjoyed going to auctions and collecting items, and he enjoyed going to The Breakfast Club with his friends. He was always helping someone, and he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Sherri Lea Archer, who died July 22, 2012; one sister, Helen LaFollette; one brother, John “Jack” Fisher; his step-mother, Addie Woodard; and two step-brothers, Ron Runnion and Stevie Runnion.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda S. Bonar Woodard, whom he married July 16, 1967; two daughters, Nancy Y. (Ron) Crum of Sarahsville and Tanya S. (Justin) Hitchens of Pleasant City; one son-in-law, Sherman Archer of Caldwell; four sisters, Joyce Cale of Okeechobee, Florida, Judy (Tom) Pilcher of Caldwell, Wilma “Jeannie” Voytko of Okeechobee, Florida and Dorothy Mills of Brooksville, Florida ; two step-sisters, Judy (Cye) Weese of Akron and Janice King of Caldwell; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday, July 10, 2016, from 2-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Monday, July 11, 2016, at 11AM with Pastor Larry Copley officiating. Burial will follow at Center Free Methodist Church Cemetery in Sarahsville.
