Obituary for Artie L. Watson
Artie Lucille Watson, age 81, of Byesville, Ohio, went to be with the Lord Friday, February 5, 2016, at Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cambridge. She was born October 29, 1934, in Byesville, daughter of the late Harry H. and Gladys D. Sicles Dudley. Artie was a long time member of the Byesville Assembly of God, and she had often served as pianist for the Ava Free Methodist Church. She was very artistic, and sang gospel music in many venues for over 50 years. She formed and directed the “Melodies of Praise” program heard on WILE radio on Saturday mornings for many years, which featured local soloists and groups. She was a member of various gospel groups over the years, including the Try God Trio, Faith Singers, and Peacemakers. Artie will be greatly missed by her friends and family, who take comfort in knowing that they will see her again someday in heaven because of their belief in Christ.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Triplett Tennant; and a niece and nephew.
Surviving are her loving and dedicated husband of 65 years, Robert L. Watson, whom she married during the blizzard of 1950 on November 25th; one daughter, T’wana (John) Mehaffey of Pataskala; one son, Robert (Raeta) Watson of Salesville; one grandson, Jonathan (Brandy) Mehaffey of Pataskala; one granddaughter, Hannah Watson of Salesville; one sister, Alice Bond of Ava; and a nephew, nieces, their children and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be observed Saturday, February 13, 2016, at 1PM at the Ava Free Methodist Church with Pastor Ken Harper officiating. A private graveside service for her family was held February 9th at Greenwood Cemetery in Byesville.
