Obituary for Arthur R. "Art" Schockling
Arthur R. “Art” Schockling, age 63, of Caldwell, Ohio, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, at The Cleveland Clinic. He was born March 17, 1954, in Zanesville, son of Jerome “Tom” and Lillian Crock Schockling of Caldwell. He was a 1972 graduate of Caldwell High School and he attended The Ohio State University in Columbus. He was employed for 25 years by the Village of Caldwell, most recently serving as superintendent of the waste water treatment plant. Art was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell, the Caldwell VFW Post #641, the Caldwell Moose Lodge #221, and he was a 35 year member of the Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and golfing, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren and raising beagles.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert S. “Bud” Ralston.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Debbie A. Ralston Schockling, whom he married in 1981; two daughters, Kimberly J. (Jason) Rucker and Molly A. (Eric) McVicker, both of Caldwell; his siblings, Doug Schockling of Caldwell, Tommy Schockling of Caldwell, Lisa (Ed) Smith of Granville, Kristy (Dale) Crum of Caldwell, and Tim (Susie) Schockling of Caldwell; three grandchildren, Jase and Kinsey Rucker and Mason McVicker; his mother-in-law, Beverly Ralston of Caldwell; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Sunday, August 6, 2017, from 2-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a vigil service will be conclude visitation at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Monday, August 7th at 10:30 AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell with Pastor Chester Pabin as celebrant. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 24, Caldwell, Ohio, 43724.
