Obituary for Arland "Gene" DeVoll
Arland “Gene” DeVoll, age 83, of Caldwell, Ohio, went to be with the Lord December 8, 2021, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born March 6, 1938, in Caldwell, son of the late Wilbur and Clara Bramley DeVoll. Gene proudly served his country for five years in the Ohio National Guard. In 1961, he enlisted in the United States Army, starting as an E-1, and earned rank as an E-5 sergeant, completing his training in heavy equipment tanks. He retired as a mechanic after 35 years of service with Ohio Machinery Company. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Caldwell. His hobbies included working on equipment, of which he was meticulous about all his work, detailing vehicles, journaling, walking, mowing, watching hummingbirds, and visiting with his family. He is known by many for his expertise and impressive skills as a mechanic, but his family knows him best as a personality that was energetic and full of life. He was known as a hard worker and a perfectionist in his craft, and always wanted to help others. He loved to be surrounded by his family and friends, and looked forward to any games his great-grandchildren had in mind.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Myron and Norman Lee DeVoll; and an infant granddaughter, Tiffany Renee Feldner.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Linda Kay Rossiter DeVoll, whom he married April 14, 1962; two daughters, Debbie (Dave) Lucas and Tonda (Roger) Feldner; one son, Shaun (Andrea) DeVoll; five grandchildren, Michael (Melissa) Lucas, Lindsay (Troy) Baker, Lacey (Jacob) Biedenbach, Brittany (Nick) Noll, and Brandon (Kylin) Feldner; twelve great-grandchildren, Natilee and Nash Noll, Elle and Lucas Baker, Kyla Adalyn, Arabella, and Easton Lucas, Bentley and Emmy Biedenbach, and Bryor and Zayde Feldner; and one sister, Maxine Sickmiller of Michigan.

Friends may call Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Sunday at 2PM with Pastor Jacob Biedenbach and Pastor Brent DeWees officiating. A veteran’s graveside service will follow at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation at www.diabetes.org.
