Obituary for Andy Zaleha
Andy Zaleha, age 93, of Sarahsville, Ohio, died Monday, May 7, 2018, at Select Specialty Hospital in Newark. He was born April 13, 1925, in Noble County, son of the late John and Elizabeth Kachmar Zaleha. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in the European Theater during World War II, and he retired as a union carpenter for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local Union #200 in Columbus. Andy loved to hunt and fish, and he was an avid fan of Shenandoah High School sports for many years. He was a beloved father and grandfather who was devoted to his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Elaine Zaleha, who died March 4, 2018; one sister, Ethel Zaleha; and 5 brothers, John, Frank, Victor, George, and Robert Zaleha.
Surviving are his wife, Lela Mae Guiler Zaleha, whom he married June 6, 1953; two daughters, Cheryl (Michael) Hughes of Asheville, North Carolina, and Grace (John) Bates of Sarahsville; one sister, Mildred Allison of Naples, Florida; one brother, Paul (Landra) Zaleha of Wadsworth; 7 grandchildren, Zachary (Aerica) Bates, Justin (Holly) Bates, Eric Bates, Heather Hughes, Mandy Hughes, Holly Hughes, and Ashley Hughes; 2 great-grandchildren, Emmitt and Owen Bates; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Saturday, May 12, 2018, from 4-5PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 5PM with Pastor Nate Gibbons officiating. Burial will follow at Hiramsburg Cemetery.
