Obituary for Alice Evalyn Hicks
Alice Evalyn Hicks, age 89, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Saturday, October 30, 2010, at OSU Medical Center in Columbus. She was born December 17, 1920, in Caldwell, daughter of the late George and Evalyn Poling Anderson. She was a graduate of Belle Valley High School, and retired as an inspector from the former Dana Plant in Caldwell. She was a member of the Dexter City United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, and she enjoyed crocheting, working jigsaw puzzles, and making arts and crafts.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin Holtzschuh; her second husband, Arthur Paul Hicks; four sisters, Vivian Labarre, Winona McCune, Cuba Davis, and Ruth Bond; and four brothers, Leonard, John, Homer, and Lloyd Anderson.
Surviving are six step-sons, Robert Leroy Hicks, Justin Wayne Hicks, Paul Hicks, Jr., and Darrell Edward Hicks, all of Iowa, Dennis J. Hicks of Indiana, and Alan Paul Hicks of Caldwell; four sisters, Bonnie Miller of Cumberland, Wanda Gildow and Geneva Wittenbrook, both of Caldwell, and Paulene Woomer of Barlow; her friend and caregiver, Alvaretta Jones of Beverly; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Wednesday, November 3, 2010, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be observed Thursday, November 4th at 1PM with Pastor Ken Ogg officiating. Burial will follow at Barry\'s Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dexter City United Methodist Church, Box 76, Dexter City, Ohio, 45727.
