Obituary for A. Faye Hayes
A. Faye Hayes, age 90, a resident of Worthington Christian Village for 13 years and a former resident of Caldwell, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. She was born April 24, 1914, in Salt Run, Noble County, Ohio, daughter of the late George William and Sallie Florence Merry DeVolld. She was a graduate of Caldwell High School; an employee of the former K&M Store, Caldwell; she was a World Book Encyclopedia Representative; was secretary of the Noble County Auditor's Office; a member of Caldwell Band Mothers; a Sunday School teacher, choir member, organist, and member of the Women's Missionary Society and Worthwhile Class at the First Church of Christ; was a member of the Amazon Chapter #30 OES; the Caldwell Women's Christian Temperance Union; and she played the organ and sang at funerals at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester R. Hayes, who died Dec. 22, 1985; three sisters, Blanche Dyer, Verna Totten, and Hattie Van Fleet; and three brothers, W. Waldo, Marshall, and Ernest DeVolld. She is survived by three sons, Claire E. (Lowene) Hayes of Caldwell; Larry L.(Lee) Hayes of Cincinnati; and William C. (Carolyn) Hayes of Pataskala; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call Saturday, May 22, from 9AM to 12PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, Caldwell, where the service will follow at 12:30PM with Paul Snoddy and Loran Dace officiating. Burial will be at Olive Cemetery, Caldwell. Memorials may be made to the Worthington Christian Village Benevolent Fund, 165 Highbluffs Blvd., Worthington, Ohio 43235
