Obituary for Shirley Y. Stritz
Shirley Y. Stritz, age 83, of Caldwell, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born August 14, 1934, in Baltimore, Maryland, daughter of the late Enned F. and Hiram O. Buckey. During World War II, she attended school in different cities and states, and she graduated from Caldwell High School in 1952. Shirley and her husband, Karl Stritz, married young and were blessed with four children, Michael Eugene, Phyllis Rae, David Allen, and Karl Ronald. She was employed several places outside the home, including the Noble County Auditor’s Office. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Caldwell, where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She was also a group leader for the Baptist Pioneer Girls and cooked food at Pine Lake Bible Camp. Shirley was a member of the Town Square Quilters Club, and she was instrumental in founding Noble County Right to Life. She enjoyed reading, quilting, swimming, and she loved to travel and see new places and things.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Karl E. Stritz, whom she married November 15, 1952, and who died September 16, 2013; two grandchildren, Molly and Levi Stritz; and one brother, Ronald Buckey, who died at 3 years of age.
Surviving are her children, Michael E. (Kris) Stritz and Phyllis R. Stritz (Milton Lisak), all of Caldwell, David A. (Susan) Stritz of Belleville, Texas, and Karl Ronald “Ron” (Trena) Stritz of Sarahsville; one sister, Janet (Jim) Thompson of Columbus; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Friday, December 29, 2017, from 11AM-12PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 12PM with Pastor Jay Workman officiating. Burial will follow at Halley’s Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
