Obituary for Flim Butcher
Flim Butcher, age 86, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at his home. He was born July 2, 1930, in Clay, West Virginia, son of the late Fliming Owen and Ruby Butcher. He was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean War, and he retired as a millwright foreman from Republic Steel in Cleveland following 30 years of service. He owned and operated a farm in Noble County for many years. Flim was a social member of the Caldwell VFW Post #4721, and he was known for being an outstanding mechanic. He enjoyed making hay on his farm and collecting equipment.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Naomi C. Reigle Butcher, whom he married October 29, 1953, and who died November 9, 2008; one son, David M. Butcher, who died March 11, 2014; an infant daughter, Sandra Lee Butcher; and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are one son, Edward J. (Barbara E.) Butcher of Caldwell; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Saturday, June 17, 2017, from 11AM-1PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will follow at 1PM with Pastor George Clark officiating. A veterans graveside service will follow at Village View Cemetery in Sarahsville conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations.
